Attorney Douglas Healy – General Counsel to MJMEUC

Douglas Healy

The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in finance and management from Liberty University, Douglas L. Healy enrolled at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1998. He completed his juris doctor in 2000 and subsequently began his career with Duncan & Pierce, a general legal practice in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. After a year providing counsel to small businesses, Douglas Healy started working as a senior assistant prosecuting attorney with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Property and White Collar Crime Division in Springfield.

In this role, Douglas L. Healy represented the State of Missouri in felony and misdemeanor actions and performed both bench and jury trials. He did so while working in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, among other agencies. In addition, Douglas Healy helped Greene County Planning and Zoning draft and enforce zoning regulations.

Mr. Healy served as chairman’s advisor with the Missouri Public Service Commission from 2005 to 2007, during which time he supported personnel management efforts and helped develop statewide policy goals in partnership with the chairman, utility companies, and various interest groups. He also served on the Governor’s Energy Task Force. Douglas Healy established his own legal practice in 2007 and continues to serve as managing member of the Springfield, Missouri-based law firm.

Outside of providing counsel to companies such as CenturyTel and National Steel of America, Mr. Healy oversees the work of attorneys in FERC litigation on behalf of MJMEUC and provides its board and senior executives with legal advice on a regular basis. In addition, he has worked on behalf of Invenergy, LLC, to secure legal approval for the development of the Grain Belt Express, an 800-mile transmission line expected to provide clean energy to more than 1.5 million households in the Midwest.
